DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS
"Diabolicanos: Act III Armageddon "

Avant-garde black/death metallers ‘Devilish Impressions’ are back with a follow up on ‘Plurima Mortis Imago’ called ‘Diabolicanos’. The second full length release of this Polish metal band. Avant-garde metal has the tendency to produce boring complex songs with no ending. ‘Devilish Impressions’ have the skill to compose longer tracks without getting boring. I really like the variety of styles combined on this release. Without trouble they seem to craft black/death/technical/avant-gard metal into nine excellent tracks. Vocal wise there is a lot of variety as well, from screams, grunts, agonizing vocals to clean vocals. ‘Har-Magedon’ has some good clean vocals in between. Many make the comparison with ‘Dimmu Borgir’. But the clean vocals on this record are not annoying, and with ‘Dimmu Borgir’ they almost always are. One of my favourite tracks is ‘Rex Inferni’. Really like the mesmerizing clean vocals in the beginning. The mid tempo pounding riff, nasty screams and great speed up on the end. Great melodies! ‘I am the son of God’ has technical riffs in the track. For all you old school boys and girls, listen to the song and judge for yourself. It’s a great track. ‘Mass for the Dead’ is a great ending track. Starts with a nice mesmerizing mid tempo riff before stepping on the gas. Great sick puking screams. Killjoy has some serious competition. The great plus on this release is the fact that it’s not predictable at all. Production wise they stand their ground. Great, refreshing release.
